Simpson Throughout time there have been an abundant amount of well-respected individuals who have let their flaws lead to their downfall. O.J. Simpson is a prime example of a tragic flaw leading to a downfall. O.J. Simpson was a luminary football player and actor who let his tragic flaw of anger and jealousy get the best of him. His tragic flaw led him to a life of crime including the alleged murder of two people, robbery, and kidnapping. At a young age, Simpson told his mother, that he would be in the paper one day, which his little sister would respond with, â€Å"In the police report.† Not only did he make the headlines as a star football player, he also†¦show more content†¦Within his first two years at the junior college, he scored more than fifty touchdowns and gained 2,445 yards rushing. He became a reputable player and even got the attention of major universities. He began playing at the University of South Carolina. He led this team to two Rose Bowl appearances in 1967 and 1968. During these appearances, Simpson scored thirty-five touchdowns and gained 3,265 yards rushing within twenty-two games. In 1968, he earned himself the Heisman Trophy (O. J. Simpson. Contemporary). At USC, he was an All-American halfback and this is where he gained all of his fame (O.J. Simpson. Biography.com). Pete Axthelm, a sports writer for Newsweek stated, â€Å"O.J. . . . has done more than his share . . . He has led the Trojans, inspired them, and when necessary carried them.† (O. J. Simpson. Simpson moved on to the National Football League draft, where the team with the worst record gets to choose first. Simpson was then granted the opportunity to play for the Buffalo Bills for part of his NFL career. In February of 1969, Simpson obtained the name of Sports Magazines â€Å"Man of the Year†. What is organizational trust? Many different definitions of trust are found in organizational behaviour literature but they all refer to similar, intangible characteristics of human behaviours. Three descriptions of trust are: †¢ The belief in the integrity, character, and ability of a leader. †¢ Reciprocal faith in one’s intentions and behaviours. †¢ A confidant reliance on the integrity, honesty, or justice of another. Integrity, character, ability, faith, reliability, honesty, and justice are strong words to live up to in the modern workplace. Yet, it is these high standards that create a culture of organizational trust. As Warren Bennis famously said â€Å"Trust is the lubrication that makes it possible for organizations to work.† Origins of Trust Why do people trust? Why should they trust? Where does trust come from? Some say human trust is instinctual and evolved from the willingness to share food in hunter-gatherer societies. Others argue that people trust out of fear of punishment for not doing what is expected of them; to achieve self interests; to demonstrate empathy, identification and friendship; or simply because they genuinely want to trust. Mayer, Davis, and Schoorman suggests that three major factors determine organizational trust: char-acteristics of the trusted, characteristics of the trustee, and the perceived risk. As a provider of e-Commerce software to mid-market, we use Amazon as a reference for the features it has on the web store. The Amazon Web Services API (application programming interface) lets developers access the Amazon technology infrastructure to build their own applications for their own Web sites. All product sales generated by those Web sites have to go through Amazon. om, and the associate gets a small commission on each sale. On the flip side, Amazon seems to not have kept up with the Web 2. 0 and Web 3. 0 user interface improvements and for most part still incorporates Web 1. 0 technology which means – you still need a mouse click to view a product as opposed to being able to see product details with a mouse roll-over. Amazon could use a ma ke-over to make for a brighter shopping experience. For my opinion Amazon’s e-commerce business model is stronger than Wal-Mart’s e-commerce business model because E-commerce is Amazon’s core mission and environment. Amazon started with a store that was properly feature-rich for its time and has gone on to strengthen that foundation. Today, it probably defenses as the leader in terms of the richness of its e-Commerce features, product breadth, personalized recommendations and depth of content available across e-commerce sites. However, there is a need for Amazon to offer a simplified and trendier shopping experience as an alternative which many other sites now offer. I don’t think Wal-Mart will replace Amazon any time soon, if ever, but it gives them a good shot of increasing their overall Web penetration. Amazon’s value proposition until now has been a broad assortment. This enables Walmart to compete with other companies with big assortments. I would prefer to make my internet purchases at Wal-Mart because this company has a great experience and long term history. Wal-Mart exists almost 50 years, Amazon is a brand new, successful but still doesn’t have that experience that Wal-Mart does.
